BNL Round 8: Suns beat Panthers in the most crucial game of the week- July 3, 2023

FS Warriors - WC Mountaineers 43-87 The game in Bloemfontein supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Mountaineers (3-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Warriors (1-3). Mountaineers smashed Warriors 87-43. Mountaineers dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Warriors' 28. Mountaineers forced 25 Warriors turnovers and outrebounded them 47-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Stephen Gabriel (205-1991) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. Naturalized Portuguese forward Miguel Ferrao (205-1996) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Elias Galane replied with 8 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Prince Dube (200-1999) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Warriors. Warriors' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mountaineers maintains second position with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Cape Town T., which they share with S.Panthers and M.Rhinos. Worth to mention a great performance of Thabo Mafetho who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Kwazi Gumede (191-1997) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Five Rhinos players scored in double figures. Cameroonian swingman Dylan Lele (193-1997) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and Gabonese Kevin Mbiguinault (182-1996) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Rhinos moved-up to second place, which they share with S.Panthers and WC Mountaineers. Loser Magic keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Job Mashwabathi (195) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Elias Galane scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Suns' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
