Dylan Lele
Cameroonian Swingman Dylan Lele (193-F/G-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for Egoli Magic, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, eight rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush L.Pride (#4, 2-3) with 22-point margin 83-61. Egoli Magic maintains the 3rd position in their group in South African BNL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Egoli Magic will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Lele had a remarkable 92.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Egoli Magic and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Dylan Lele has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.3ppg) and averages impressive 3.0spg and 59.5% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was Sibusiso Cele (175-PG) of league's second-best KZ Marlins. Cele had a very good evening with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led KZ Marlins to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Egoli Magic (#3, 3-2) 79-46. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. KZ Marlins consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 4 matches. Cele is one of the most experienced players at KZ Marlins and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 5.0rpg and 3.6apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Khotso Mahloane (199-C-1992) of FS Warriors (#5). Mahloane scored 16 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Mahloane's great performance FS Warriors lost 76-81 to the higher-ranked M.Rhinos (#2, 3-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. FS Warriors can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group B. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Mahloane he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Mahloane as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
Other top performing players last week:
4. Joshua Tawengwa (192-F) of M.Rhinos - 16 points and 6 rebounds
5. Ludwig Gerdes (191-SF-1994) of M.Rhinos - 19 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Prince Dube) of FS Warriors - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Panti Kalubi (F) of L.Pride - 15 points and 7 rebounds
8. Balela Mpoyi) of M.Rhinos - 12 points and 7 rebounds
9. Mfanafuthi Ntombela (191-G/F) of KZ Marlins - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Nathan Kayinda (F) of M.Rhinos - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
