Davison Chivero put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for NW Eagles, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The player had a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out KZ Marlins (#1, 3-1) 65-64. NW Eagles maintains the 4th position in their group in South African BNL. NW Eagles is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. Chivero turned to be NW Eagles' top player in his first season with the team. Davison Chivero has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 17.5ppg) and averages impressive 2.5bpg and 56.1% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old former international shooting guard Bandile Nsele (187-SG-91) of league's leader KZ Marlins. Nsele had a very good evening with 23 points and 2 rebounds. Bad luck as KZ Marlins was edged by the lower-ranked NW Eagles (#4, 2-2) 65-64. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. KZ Marlins still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. His team has currently 3-1 record. Nsele is a newcomer at KZ Marlins, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.8ppg (#8). He also registered 7.3 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Kabelo Kubayi (F) of league's second-best S.Panthers. Kubayi showcased his all-around game by recording 10 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of S.Panthers, leading his team to a 68-40 easy win against FS Warriors (#5, 0-4). S.Panthers needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Group B. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Kubayi has a great season in South Africa. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 2.5apg (2nd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
