Sibanyoni number one in South Africa for round 1

Swingman Nkosinathi Sibanyoni (G/F) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Egoli Magic, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The player had a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team L.Pride (#5, 0-2) with 27-point margin 74-47. It allowed Egoli Magic to consolidate first place in the South African BNL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Egoli Magic won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It was one of impressive evenings for Sibanyoni as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Nkosinathi Sibanyoni has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 11.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 14.0rpg) and averages impressive 2.5bpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old Zimbabwean Thomas Rutsito (202-F/C-97) of NC Zebras. Rutsito had a very good evening with 6 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as NC Zebras lost that game 55-67 to T.Suns (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Rutsito is a newcomer at NC Zebras and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 8.5ppg (#9). He also registered 17.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another NC Zebras' star - forward Xolani Xaba (F). Xaba scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Xaba's great performance NC Zebras lost 55-67 to T.Suns (#2, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. NC Zebras can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Xaba has individually a great season in South Africa. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (9th best) and assists with 2.0apg (6th best).
