The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali: APR (#2) and Azomco (#5). Azomco was smashed at home by 23 points 52-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Azomco. APR made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Azomco turnovers. Mali guard Kamba Diakite (172-1999) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of her eight free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and Violette Uwimpuhwe (165-2004) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. APR's coach Charles Mushumba felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Ange Uwiringiyimana responded with 11 points and 8 rebounds. APR have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader REG. Azomco at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost.
D1 top team - REG (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Gahini (0-7) 80-37. The former international Ange Irakoze (181-2003) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Nandy Uwitonze supported her with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points and 7 rebounds by Aline Uwimana did not help to save the game for Gahini. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated REG have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Gahini at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.
The game in Butare was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked The Hoops (5-3) played at the court of 6th ranked RP-IPRC Huye (2-6). The Hoops defeated RP-IPRC Huye 89-77 on Saturday. Feza Ebengo fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Liliane Ingabire produced 23 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The Hoops moved-up to fourth place. Loser RP-IPRC Huye keeps the sixth position with six games lost.
