The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali: REG (#1) and Kepler (#2). REG (7-0) crushed visiting Kepler (4-2) by 21 points 72-51. REG forced 24 Kepler turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Kepler's players. It was a great evening for Mali center Kankou Coulibaly (187-1990) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Center Nandy Uwitonze (-2002) helped adding 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. REG's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side DR Congolese center Aichata Traore (185-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Undefeated REG have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. Kepler at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with APR. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Bottom-ranked Gahini (0-4) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to sixth ranked RP-IPRC Huye (2-4) 57-29. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Stella Dusingizumuremyi (154-2003) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gisele Makenga accounted for 10 points and 6 rebounds. Jeanine Uwituze came up with 6 points and 13 rebounds for Gahini in the defeat. Ange Uwiringiyimana fired 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Janviere Byukusenge produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 21 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Azomco moved-up to fifth place. GSMRR lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Azomco will meet RP-IPRC Huye (#6) in the next round. GSMRR will play against The Hoops in Kigali and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
