The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gahini in Kigali on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by REG 117-51. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Gahini's 40. REG forced 50 Gahini turnovers and had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Gahini's players. Henriette Uwimpuhwe (-2000) fired 31 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Ramla Umunezero (-2003) chipped in 31 points, 9 assists and 15 steals. Aline Uwimana produced 12 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Gahini's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. REG's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kigali Azomco.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali: APR and Azomco. APR crushed visiting Azomco by 19 points 71-52. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Jane Dusabe (-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Marie Imanizabayo contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. APR's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Ishimwe Maruwa answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for Azomco. APR's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kigali The Hoops.
Very important is a road loss of GSMRR against Kepler on Sunday night. Visiting GSMRR was defeated by Kepler in Kigali 54-42. Aitchata Traole stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Rachel Gikundiro responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. GSMRR's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kepler will meet at home RP-IPRC Huye in the next round. GSMRR will have a break next round.
