D1 Round 7 (Regular Season): REG lose the game and top position

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game of round 7 took place in between two undefeated teams where APR edged REG (6-1) 77-75 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of REG. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded REG 62-48 including 28 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international center Assouma Uwizeye (182-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds. The former international center Charlotte Umugwaneza (195-1984) helped adding 11 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side the former international point guard Odile Tetero (162-1998) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. REG's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated APR (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion (6-0) keeps a position of league leader. REG at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by APR. REG will play next round against strong Kepler trying to make it back to the top of the standings. APR will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked RP-IPRC Huye on the road.
The game in was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked GSMRR (5-1) played at the court of 6th ranked EA Univ (3-5). GSMRR defeated EA Univ 67-55. It was an exceptional evening for forward Brigitte Nibishaka (-2003) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds. Yvonne Muhawenimana accounted for 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Fabiola Umunyuragaju came up with 8 points and 14 rebounds for EA Univ in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. GSMRR moved-up to third place. EA Univ at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. GSMRR will play against bottom-ranked UR BBC (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EA Univ will have a break next round.

Jane Dusabe fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Ange Akimana produced 5 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The Hoops moved-up to seventh place. Loser EA Univ keeps the sixth position with five games lost.

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. 6th ranked EA Univ (3-5) played at the court of eighth ranked The Hoops (2-5). The Hoops smashed EA Univ 80-37 on Saturday. The Hoops held EA Univ to an opponent 20.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.8 percent accuracy of the winners. The Hoops forced 28 EA Univ turnovers and outrebounded them 49-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. The Hoops looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by EA Univ's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when The Hoops made 7 blocks. The former international center Jane Dusabe (-2005) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Oliviette Tumukunde (-2005) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists.
