Chinanu Onuaku (ex Bnei Hertzeliya) joins Santurce

Cangrejeros de Santurce (BSN) agreed terms with 29-year old USA-Nigerian ex-international center Chinanu Onuaku (207cm-100kg-1996, college: Louisville). He moved there from Bnei Hertzeliya in Israeli Winner League, but it seems he will not stay with that team after all. In 15 Winner League games he had 12.5ppg, 9.3rpg, 4.8apg, 1.8spg and 1.3bpg last season. He helped them to make it to the cup final. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week. Onuaku also played 6 games in Basketball Champions League where he recorded very impressive stats: 15.8ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.5apg and 1.2bpg.
In 2016, he was drafted by the Houston Rockets (NBA) in the second round (37th overall). He attended the University of Louisville, and this will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
Onuaku was also a member of the USA international program for some years. He played for the USA Senior National Team in 2019 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2015.
Onuaku is a highly experienced player. Throughout his career, he has traveled to four different continents and played in ten different countries. He has competed professionally in Croatia (Zadar), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv), Italy (Sassari), Korea (Skygunners and Wonju DB), Spain (Joventut), the NBA (Portland Trail Blazers), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros and Santeros), the NBA G League (Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Greensboro Swarm), the NBA Summer League (Boston Celtics), and The Basketball Tournament (The Ville).
Among many awards, his team made it to the Italian final in 2023. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention in 2024.
