Jiaozuo signs Olisa Akonobi

Olisa Akonobi

Jiaozuo Cultural Tourism (NBL) signed 26-year-old Nigerian international center Olisa Akonobi (213cm-114kg-2000, college: AAMU). He just played at Caballeros de Culiacan in Mexican CIBACOPA.
Three years ago, he was drafted by Grand Rapids Gold (G-League) in the first round (14th overall).
He graduated from Alabama A&M University in 2023 and is currently in his third season in pro basketball. Akonobi has been consistently selected to play for the Nigerian Senior National Team since 2025.
He has also played professionally in Mexico (Frayles de Guasave and Astros), the NBA G League (South Bay Lakers), and Mexico.
Among many awards, his team made it to the SWAC Tournament Semifinals in 2023. Akonobi was also voted All-SWAC Defensive Player of the Year back in 2023. He played for Morehouse College for 4 years.
