Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (KBL) signed 31-year old Nigerian ex-international center John Egbunu (211cm-120kg-1994, college: Florida). He played last season at Meralco Bolts in Filipino PBA league. In three Basketball Champions League Asia games just recently he had 11.3ppg, 10.7rpg and 1.7apg. The last season he played for different teams. He ended the season at Gevi Napoli Basket (Serie A) in Italian league. Egbunu also played for Breogan Lugo (Liga Endesa) in Spanish league. The other team he played shortly was Sharks (CBA) in Chinese league. He was a member of Nigerian Senior National Team back in 2020.
Egbunu is a very experienced player. He has played in eleven different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America). Egbunu has played professionally in China (Rockets), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem), Italy (Openjobmetis Varese), Spain, Turkey (Gaziantep), NBA (Brooklyn Nets), South Korea (Sonicboom), NBA G League (Long Island Nets), and NBA Summer League (Minnesota Timberwolves).
His team won the Turkish U19 League Group A Regular Season in 2023.
He graduated from the University of Florida in 2018 and it'll be his 8th season as a professional player. Egbunu played also for the University of South Florida for 1 year.
