San-en NeoPhoenix (B1 League) re-signed 32-year old USA-Nigerian 195cm swingman
David Nwaba (college:
Cal Poly) for the upcoming season. He joins another USA player
Darius Days who is already on the roster. Nwaba was a team leader there last season. In 62 B1 League games, he recorded very impressive stats: 17.3ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.6apg, and 1.6spg. He helped them win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese League All-Defensive Team, All-Imports Team, and League Player of the Week (4 times). In the previous (2023-24) season, he played for
Lions (BBL) in the British league. The team played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. Nwaba also played 10 games in the British SLB, where he averaged 13.9ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.8apg, and 1.1spg. He contributed to his team winning the league title.
Nwaba has played professionally in the United Kingdom, NBA, and NBA G League. He has played for the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets during his career.
Among many awards, he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention in 2024.
It is worth mentioning that he also played at
Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him secure a job in professional basketball.
He graduated from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo University in 2016 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball. Nwaba played for other colleges like Santa Monica College and Hawaii Pacific University.
