Bnei Ofek Dist Hertzeliya (Winner League) signed 28-year old USA-Nigerian center Chinanu Onuaku (207cm-100kg-1996, college: Louisville). It is actually his comeback to Hod Hasharon as he has played here before. He started the season at Wonju DB in South Korean KBL league. In 48 games he had 13.9ppg, 8.9rpg and 2.7apg. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week. The last season summer he played at Vaqueros (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. He also played for another Puerto Rican team Santeros de Aguada (BSN) in Puerto Rican league.
In 2016 he was drafted by Houston Rockets (NBA) in second round (37th overall). Onuaku attended University of Louisville and it is his ninth season in pro basketball.
He was also a member of the USA international program for some years. Onuaku played for USA Senior National Team back in 2019 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2015.
He represented USA at the FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers six years ago. Onuaku's team won Gold and he had over 8 points per game.
Onuaku is quite experienced player. He has played in ten different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Onuaku has played previously professionally in Croatia (Zadar), Italy (Sassari), Korea (Skygunners), Puerto Rico, Spain (Joventut), NBA (Portland Trail Blazers), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv and of courseBnei Hertzeliya), NBA G League (RGV Vipers and Greensboro Swarm), NBA Summer League (Boston Celtics) and The Basketball Tournament (The Ville).
Among many awards his team made it to the Italian final in 2023. He was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Player of the Year and Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Import Player of the Year back in 2022.
