Defending champion Rivers Royal Hoopers (PBL) landed 24-year old South Sudanese-Australian international 196cm guard Jackson Makoi (college: Daytona State). He is the second import player in the roster as Italian Peter Olisemeka signed here earlier.
He played recently at Cairns Taipans in Australian NBL league. In 11 games he averaged 4.1ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.5apg last season. The last season summer he played at another Australian team Wizards (also in NBL).
He also represented South Sudan at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. During this event he scored an average of points per game and had rebounds per game.
He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). Makoi has played previously professionally in Canada and Croatia (Osijek).
Among many awards he won Australian NBL championship title in 2023. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Croatian Premijer Liga Honorable Mention back in 2022.
Makoi graduated from Daytona State in 2021 and it is his fourth season in pro basketball. He played also for Lee College for one year.
