Tauranga Whai (NBL) added to their roster experienced 34-year old Nigerian international power forward Talib Zanna (206cm-104kg-1990, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Diamond Sports). Zanna played last season at Cibona in Croatian Premijer Liga, but left. In 5 games he recorded 4.2ppg and 3.6rpg. He also played 3 games in ABA League where he averaged 8.7ppg and 3.0rpg. The last summer he played at Caneros in Dominican Rep. LNB. In 10 games he had 7.8ppg and 6.0rpg.
Zanna has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016. He has been regularly called to Nigerian Senior National Team since 2018.
Zanna is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America) in eight different countries. He has played previously professionally in Bulgaria (Spartak Pleven), France (JSF Nanterre), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv and Ironi Nes Ziona), Spain (Fuenlabrada), Turkey (Afyon), NBA (OKC Thunder), NBA G League (OKC Blue, Maine Celtics, Long Island Nets and San Diego Clippers) and The Basketball Tournament (Zoo Crew and Program for Autism).
Zanna played in the final of The Basketball Tournament in 2022.
He graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 2014 and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season as a professional player.
