Jahlil Okafor (ex Arecibo) joins the Pacers

Indiana Pacers agreed terms with 28-year old double-passport holder Nigerian center Jahlil Okafor (6'11''-253lbs-1995, college: Duke) . He played last season at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 29 games just recently he had very impressive stats: 19.7ppg, 7.8rpg and 2.7apg. He helped them to win the regular season. 2024-24 was a great year as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Second Team.
In 2015 he was drafted by Philadelphia 76ers as #3 pick overall. Okafor attended Duke University and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
He represented USA at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) three years ago.
Okafor is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in five different countries. He tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. Okafor has played previously professionally in China (Guangsha Lions), Puerto Rico, Spain (Zaragoza), NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets) and NBA G League (Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico).
Among many awards he won NCAA championship title in 2015. He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention in 2022.
On Okafor: A talented, strong inside player. Polished in the post and active on the glass. Allows to create a formidable inside-out game with the perimeter players.
