Bourges ink Amy Okonkwo

Amy Okonkwo

Tango Bourges Basket (LFB) has signed 27-year-old American forward Amy Okonkwo for the upcoming 2024-25 season. She played last season at Bretagne. In 27 LFB games in France, she was the best scorer with an impressive 17.0ppg and averaged 6.6rpg, 1.5apg, and 1.6spg. In 2023-24, she was named to Eurobasket.com French LFB All-Imports Team, League Player of the Week (2 times), and Eurobasket.com All-French LFB Second Team.
She also represented Nigeria at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) three years ago. During this event she scored an average of 2.7 ppg and had 1 rpg.
Okonkwo is a highly experienced player who has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America, and North America). She has previously played professionally in Israel (Maccabi Haifa), Mexico (Halcones), and Spain (Zamarat and Leganes).
In 2023, her college team reached the Israeli Cup final. She was named Latinbasket.com All-Mexican LNBPF Player of the Year and Latinbasket.com All-Mexican LNBPF Import Player of the Year.
Okonkwo graduated from Texas Christian University in 2019 and it will be her sixth season as a professional player. She played also for University of Southern California for one year.
