Defending champion Rivers Royal Hoopers (DStv PBL) signed experienced 34-year-old Morocco-American ex-international 207cm power forward John Wilkins (college: Illinois State) for the new season. He last played at Stade in Mali Ligue 1. In 8 Basketball Africa League games, he averaged 6.4ppg and 2.5rpg, helping them reach the semifinals.
He represented Morocco at the FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers five years ago. His team reached the Semifinals and his stats were 9 games: 1.9ppg, 1.8rpg.
