Rivers Royal Hoopers (DStv PBL) have agreed terms with 32-year-old double-passport holder Canadian guard Kelvin Amayo (193cm-102kg-1992, college: LMU, agency: Slash Sports) for the upcoming 2024 season. He is the second foreign player in the roster, as USA's William Perry signed earlier. Amayo played last summer at Stade in Mali Ligue 1. In 8 Basketball Africa League games, he had 7.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 4.8apg (top 4), and 2.4spg (in top 2), helping them reach the semifinals.
He has played on three different continents: Europe, Asia, and North America. He has played professionally in Georgia (Zestaponi), Iran (Chemidor, Azarshahr, and Sanaye), and The Basketball Tournament (Johnnies). He won the Mali League championship title in 2023.
He was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Player of the Year and Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Defensive Player of the Year in 2020.
He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2017 and it'll be his 8th season as a pro player. He played for other colleges like Iona College, Marshall University, Towson University.
