Seattle Storm inked 33-year old former USA-Nigerian international 6-3 forward Nneka Ogwumike (college: Stanford) for upcoming season. She played last summer at LA Sparks. She has played there for the last four years. A very good season in her career as she was voted to WNBA All-Star Game, All-WNBA Second Team and WNBA All-Defensive Second Team.
In 2012 Los Angeles Sparks selected her as first overall pick in WNBA draft.
The former Stanford University star is in her 13th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
She was also a member of the USA international program for some years. She played for USA Senior National Team between 2014 and 2020 and previously for the University National Team back in 2011.
She also represented USA at the World Championships (FIBA World Cup) in Tenerife (Spain) six years ago. Ogwumike's team won Gold and her stats at that event were 6 games: 7.5ppg, 3.2rpg, FGP: 51.4%, FT: 81.8%.
She has quite traveled the world as her pro career brought her to three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). She has played previously professionally in China (Vermilion Birds), Poland (Polkowice) and Russia (Dynamo Kursk and Sparta&K Vidnoe Moscow Region).
Among many awards she won Chinese WCBA championship title in 2019. She was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Europe Power Forward of the Year for four consecutive years between 2014 and 2017. She played also for High School for 2 years.
