NBBF Premier Basketball League: Rivers Hoopers claim fifth national title unbeaten

Rivers Hoopers of Port Harcourt has won the 2023 NBBF Premier Basketball League after a dominant win over the Nigeria Customs basketball team 77-57 in the final game of the Premier Basketball League in Port Harcourt. The Hoopers came into the final four tournaments, which had Gboko City Chiefs, Hoops & Reads and Nigeria Customs on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run. The KingsMen defeated Gboko City Chiefs 67-62 in their first game, produced a more stronger performance against Hoops & Reads in their second game before seeing out Customs Basketball to clinch the title. With the win, Hoopers have now won the NBBF Premier Basketball League five times and have also qualified for next year’s Basketball Africa League (BAL) for the second time in their history as the sole representative of Nigeria. Rivers Hoopers have previously won the NBBF Premier League in 2011, 2012, 2019, and 2021.
