AfroBasket 2023: Nigeria overwhelm Rwanda to qualify for the title defence

Rwanda - Nigeria 48:79

Nigeria overwhelmed Rwanda 79-48 to qualify for the title defence at the AfroBasket 2023. The defending champions will face the winner of the Senegal/Mali game in the Final. Nigeria started with 22-6 surge and never looked behind. The favorites added massive 22-12 rally in the second period and dominated the fourth quarter as well.
Amy Okonkwo (188-F-1996, college: TCU) top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 10 rebounds, whilst Olaoluwatomi Taiwo (2000) had 12. Elizabeth Balogun (185-G/F-2000) and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-F-1997, college: Northwestern) followed them with 10 points each in a win. Destiney Philoxy (170-G-2000) replied with 21 points in a loss and Janai Robertson brought 11.
