Landerneau Bretagne Basket (LFB) added to their roster 28-year old Nigerian ex-international power forward Evelyn Akhator (190cm-1995, college: Kentucky) for season 2023-24. Akhator is the second import player in the roster as USA Nausia Woolfolk signed here earlier.
She is not a newcomer in French League as she played most recently at Landes in the LFB, but left the team in Nov.'22. In four Euroleague games she recorded 6.5ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3spg last season. She also played 4 games in LFB where she averaged 6.5ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.0spg.
Her team made it to the SEC Tournament Semifinals in 2016 and 2017.
The previous (2021-22) season she played at Flammes. In 23 LFB games she had 11.4ppg, 8.2rpg (#2 in the league), 1.9apg and 1.8spg in that year. Quite impressive season as she was voted Eurobasket.com All-French LFB Forward of the Year and League Player of the Week (2 times). She also played 11 games in Eurocup where she got 12.3ppg, 8.0rpg and 2.2spg in that year.
In 2017 she was drafted by Dallas Wings (WNBA) as #3 pick overall.
The former University of Kentucky standout is in her seventh season in pro basketball.
Akhator also represented Nigeria at the World Championships (FIBA World Cup) in Tenerife (Spain) five years ago. Her stats at that event were 7 games: 12.6ppg, Reb-4 (9.0rpg), 1.4apg, 1.1spg, FGP: 34.8%, FT: 68.6%.
She is quite experienced player. Akhator has played also professionally in Russia (Dynamo Novosibirsk Region), Turkey (Besiktas), Spain (Avenida) and WBDA (Atlanta M.).
She was also selected WBCA JUCO D1 Player of the Year back in 2015. Her team made it to the SEC Tournament Semifinals in 2016 and 2017. Akhator played also for Chipola College for 2 years.
