LNBPF 2023 - Amy Okonkwo (ex M.Haifa) agreed terms with Halcones

Amy Okonkwo

Halcones de Xalapa (LNBPF) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old American (has also Nigerian passport) 188cm forward Amy Okonkwo (college: TCU). Okonkwo moved there from M.Haifa in Israeli D1 league. In 22 games she recorded very impressive stats: 21.5ppg, 8.7rpg, 1.7apg and 2.2spg last season. She helped them to make it to the cup final. Great season indeed as she was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Honorable Mention.
The most of last season she spent at Hainaut in French LFB where in 15 games she averaged 13.1ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.2apg. Okonkwo also played for Innova-TSN Leganes in Spanish LF Endesa. In 11 games she had also remarkable stats: 15.2ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg.
She represented Nigeria at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) two years ago. Her stats at that event were 3 games: 2.7ppg, 1.0rpg.
Okonkwo has played also professionally in Spain (Zamarat).
She was selected All-Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year back in 2018.
Okonkwo graduated from Texas Christian University in 2019 and it is her fourth season in pro basketball. She played also for University of Southern California for one year.
