Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Nigerians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Obi Emegano (190-93, college: ORU, currently plays in France). He led JDA Dijon to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked Chalons-Reims (22-12) 84-81 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA last Saturday. Emegano was MVP of the game. He recorded 27 points (!!!); quite an impressive performance considering it's only Emegano's third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. JDA Dijon Bourgogne (23-11) is placed third in the Jeep ELITE ProA. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Emegano's first year with the team. This season he averages: 8.1ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 43.8% and FT: 86.4%. Emegano has a dual citizenship: Nigerian and British. He is currently a member of the Nigerian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Philippines). Lawal could not help Meralco Bolts (1-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Meralco Bolts were edged 94-91 on the road by the leading Blackwater Elite. Lawal recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points and getting 21 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Lawal has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 29.5ppg, 24.0rpg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 56.3%(27-48) and FT: 35.7%. Lawal is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American. He played for the Nigerian national team in 2013.

Josh-Emmanuel Akognon

   #3. The Nigerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton, currently plays in China). Akognon led Henan to a victory over the closely-ranked Shaanxi Xinda (2-1) 118-111 in the Chinese NBL (second division) in Wednesday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Akognon scored 35 points (!!!), grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 37 minutes. Henan Shedianlaojiu (2-1) is placed fourth in the NBL. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Akognon has very impressive stats this year: 31.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 4.7apg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 68.8%(22-32), 3FGP: 44.8% in three games he played so far. He has both American and Nigerian nationalities. Akognon played for the Nigerian national team three years ago.

Tonye Jekiri

   #4. Center Tonye Jekiri (213-94, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Gaziantep (17-11) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance Gaziantep was badly defeated 79-61 in Istanbul by the higher-ranked Galatasaray (#4). Jekiri recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds. Jekiri has relatively good stats this season: 12.7ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.3apg. He is also Nigerian national team player.

   #5. Former international power forward Trevor Mbakwe (207-89, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Minnesota, currently plays in Greece) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Holargos (12-14) crushing them 84-62 in the Greek A1 on Saturday night. Mbakwe recorded 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 17 minutes. AEK Athens (18-8) is placed third in the A1. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. This year Mbakwe's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 6.0rpg in three games. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Despite Mbakwe played previously for the USA university national team, he is currently in the Nigerian national team roster.

   #6. Point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV, currently plays in Poland) was the main contributor in a Twarde Pierniki's victory against the closely-ranked Stelmet Enea BC (24-6) 81-67 in the Polish EBL in Sunday night's game. Umeh was the top player that evening. He scored 18 points (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Polski Cukier Torun (24-6) is placed second in the EBL. It's Umeh's first season with the team. This year Umeh has relatively solid stats: 12.2ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.4apg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Umeh is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

Former international power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice, currently plays in Israel) was the major contributor in a 1-point Hapoel Eilat's victory against the league outsider Bnei Hasharon (7-26) 74-73 in the Israeli Winner League last Thursday. He scored 14 points, grabbed 5 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 3 shots in 34 minutes. Hapoel Eilat (22-11) is placed fourth in the Winner League. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Braimoh has very impressive stats this year: 15.5ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.6apg and 1.5spg in 29 games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team three years ago.

Center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, agency: BeoBasket, college: Chicago St., currently plays in Puerto Rico) contributed to Capitanes' victory against the closely-ranked Vaqueros (15-14) 85-80 in the Puerto Rican BSN in Sunday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Akindele recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in 25 minutes. Capitanes de Arecibo (17-15) is placed third in the BSN. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Akindele has reliable stats this year: 11.5ppg, 10.4rpg and 2.4apg in 11 games. He plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

International guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: WSU, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to Lietkabelis' victory against the closely-ranked P.Zvaigzdes (16-20) 105-98 in the Lithuanian LKL last Thursday. Iroegbu scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Panevezys Lietkabelis (23-13) is placed fourth in the LKL. Iroegbu's stats this season are: 14.1ppg, 3.4rpg and 3.3apg. He is also in the roster of the Nigerian national team.

Guard Caleb Agada (193-94, agency: Blacktop Management, college: Ottawa, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Melilla Baloncesto's victory against the closely-ranked Carramimbre (20-14) 76-72 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. Agada was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 13 rebounds. Agada also added 3 assists and 5 steals in 34 minutes. Melilla Baloncesto (21-13) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Agada's stats this year are: 12.8ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.5apg and 2.4spg in 36 games. Despite he played previously for the Canadian university national team, Agada is also an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #11. International forward Al-Farouq Aminu (206-90, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Portland Trail Blazers in their game against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 20 minutes. His team were edged 114-111 in the NBA. Aminu averaged so far 9.1ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.3apg in 97 games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Despite Aminu played previously for the USA U19 national team, he is currently in the Nigerian national team roster.

   #12. Former international forward Melvin Ejim (201-91, college: Iowa St., currently plays in VTB United League) managed to help Unics Kazan in a victory against the closely-ranked Khimki 96-91 in the VTB United League on Wednesday night. Ejim recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 12 minutes. This year Ejim's total stats are: 8.4ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.4apg in 20 games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2012.

   #13. International power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Israel) helped Ironi Nes-Ziona edge the tenth-ranked Galil Gilboa 91-90 in the Israeli Winner League in Monday night's game. Zanna scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Zanna averaged so far 12.9ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.3spg. He is also Nigerian national team player.

   #14. International swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Zaragoza in their game against Gran Canaria in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Okoye scored 5 points and added 3 assists in 28 minutes. His team lost 79-84. Okoye averaged so far 14.9ppg, 4.9rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg in 31 games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Okoye plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #15. International power forward Lotanna Nwogbo (203-93, college: Longwood, currently plays in Argentina) helped Atenas win their game against the fifth-ranked Estudiantes Olavarria 77-69 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) on Friday night. He recorded 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. This season Nwogbo has very high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.5bpg. Nwogbo holds both American and Nigerian passports. He is also in the roster of the Nigerian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Nigerian passport but never been selected to any of Nigerian national teams:

   #1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-G/F-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA) led Milwaukee Bucks to a victory over the Toronto Raptors (58-24) crushing them 125-103 in the NBA in Friday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Antetokounmpo had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 17 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 2 blocks in 35 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks have a solid 60-22 record this season. It's Antetokounmpo's sixth year with the team. Antetokounmpo has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 27.4ppg, 12.5rpg, 5.7apg, 1.6bpg and 1.2spg in 86 games he played so far. Antetokounmpo has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian.

   #2. Ike Joseph Udanoh (203-PF-89, college: Wayne St., MI, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in a Sidigas AV's surprising victory against the league leader Armani Milano (23-7) 82-74 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday night. Udanoh recorded 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 31 minutes. Sidigas Avellino (16-14) is placed ninth in the Serie A. Udanoh has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 8.2rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg in 15 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American.

   #3. Michael Ojo (216-C-93, college: FSU, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked FMP (6-2) 77-62 in a derby game in the Serbian KLS in Wednesday night's game. He scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group A. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (8-0) is placed first. So far his team won all eight games in the Second Stage. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. It's Ojo's first season with the team. Ojo's overall stats this year are: 9.0ppg and 6.4rpg. Worth to mention Ojo played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #4. Moses Kingsley (208-F-94, college: Arkansas, currently plays in Belgium) was the main contributor in a Antwerp Giants' victory against the eighth-ranked Kangoeroes (12-24) crushing them 107-78 in the Belgian Euromillions League last Sunday. He was the best player in that game. Kingsley scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 20 minutes; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Telenet Giants Antwerp (30-6) is placed first in the Euromillions League. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. It's Kingsley's first year with the team. This season Kingsley's overall stats are: 7.8ppg and 4.6rpg in 18 games. He has both American and Nigerian nationalities.

   #5. Chris Otule (211-C-90, college: Marquette, currently plays in China) could not help Guizhou (2-1) in their last game on Friday. Despite Otule's very good performance Guizhou was defeated 111-103 on the road by the higher-ranked Hunan (#3). He recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 15 rebounds. Otule also added 8 blocks. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This season Otule has very high stats. He averages: 25.3ppg, 15.3rpg and 4.7bpg. Otule also holds two passports: Nigerian and American.

   #6. Chima Moneke (198-F-95, college: UC Davis, currently plays in France) contributed to a Denain Voltaire's victory against the closely-ranked Aix-Maurienne 84-78 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Moneke scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Moneke averaged so far 14.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3spg.

   #7. Danny Agbelese (206-F/C-90, also represented by Octagon Europe, college: Hampton, currently plays in Greece) helped Holargos win their game against the third-ranked AEK 88-72 in the Greek A1 on Wednesday night. Agbelese scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Agbelese's total stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.8bpg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #8. Michael Fakuade (201-F-89, college: Ill.-Springfield, currently plays in France) helped Entente Orleans 45 win their game against one of league's weakest teams Caen 78-70 in the French ProB (second division) in Saturday night's game. Fakuade scored 14 points and blocked 3 blocks in 28 minutes. Fakuade averaged so far 11.0ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2bpg in 30 games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #9. O.D. Anosike (203-F/C-91, college: Siena, currently plays in France) was not able to help Le Portel (13-21) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Anosike's good performance Le Portel was defeated 92-86 at home by the second-ranked JL Bourg. He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 11 rebounds. Anosike also added and 3 steals. Anosike averaged so far 11.1ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #10. Experienced Robert Anshila (199-F-86, college: Ft.Hays State, currently plays in Australia) helped Senators win their game against the 13th-ranked Cougars crushing them 97-44 in the Australian State League (second division) in Friday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Anshila scored 20 points, had 6 rebounds and made 3 blocks in a mere 19 minutes. Anshila averaged so far 13.0ppg, 6.1rpg and 2.9apg in seven games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Anshila attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Gunma Crane Thunders (B2 League) re-signed experienced 35-year old Nigerian ex-international forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-111kg-84, college: Tallahassee CC). He was a team leader there last season. In 64 B2 League games he averaged impressive 15.4ppg, 10.7rpg, 3.2apg, 1.3spg and 1.7bpg. Kuso helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final.
