Braves get eight point win over Fire in ABL Men's Division I- July 23, 2022
Ghana Fire Service Men's Basketball Team made a quick start to life in its game against Braves of Customs but couldn't maintain its momentum only to end up losing by eight points. Braves clinched a 64-56 win over Fire Service in the 2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men's Division I at the Prisons Court in Cantonments. Fire passed up on open looks at the rim and missed a handful of layup attempts; the team played without frontcourt of Bashiru Moro and Emmanuel Ocquaye. Steve Foster scored six of Fire Service's first eight points in the game. Gilbert Woode setup Jibril Musah for a layup with a no look pass. Musah then added a three pointer for Fire. Baniba Dodzie and Nii Kwatey scored three pointers for Braves. Daniel Aryee (1983) added two more points for Braves as his side trailed 13-17 at the end of the first quarter. Woode scored a three pointer but Braves responded in quick fashion with four points from Aryee and a layup from Hashim Brimah. Dela Kwofie setup Kwatey's three pointer with a beautiful find to give Braves a 22-20 lead. Back to back three pointers from Kontor Appiah and a Kwofie jumper put Braves up 36-27 at half time. Woode's three pointer ended Braves scoring run with a three pointer early in the third quarter. Brimah and Kwofie had registered points for Braves in the earlier possessions. Kwatey buried a three pointer; Isaac Cudjoe and David Laryea (186-G-1990) responded for Fire; buzzer beating three pointer got Braves to end proceedings in the third quarter Braves led 49-37. Dodzie scored a jump shot to put Braves up 55-46 with 4:58 minutes remaining. Dodzie's shot came on the second straight possession Braves moved the ball very well; Aryee scored a jumper off the earlier possession. Laryea showed off nifty footwork to score four straight points. Aryee's layup was sandwiched by three pointers from Woode and Musah to end the game. |
