Kumasi Girls High School has clinched the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship after beating Accra Wesley Girls High School 30-29 in the final game played at the El Wak Stadium in Accra. The Kumasi side won the Championship in the exciting finale in overtime after the score was tied at 27. Kumasi Girls could have won the game at the end of regulation but Point Guard Rose Yeboah missed a free throw to complete a three point play after getting fouled on a drive. Accra Wesley took an 8-1 lead in the opening minutes of the first half but got pegged with a flurry from Kumasi Girls to lead 13-8. However, Accra Wesley recovered well to end the first half on top courtesy a 15-13 lead with back to back made free throws. In the end, the teams couldnt be separated and overtime had to be played with Center Abigail Agyapomaa converting a free throw with the game tied at 29 and a few seconds remaining on the clock. This the first title for Kumasi Girls and cures the pain of losing last year's final to Wesley Girls High School.
