The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Cairo: Al Shams (#5) and Nasr (#8). Al Shams (5-1) won against visiting Nasr (3-4) 62-54. Al Shams forced 19 Nasr turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Fatema El Gohary who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Malak Shaaban chipped in 3 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Nouran Khaled produced 18 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Shams have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Nasr lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost.
Top-ranked NBEC blasted bottom-ranked Aviation (0-7) in Cairo 122-46 keeping the perfect record after 8 rounds. Aviation is still unable to win any game. Farida Tamer orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Yasmine Alaa contributed with 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Farida Essam replied with 11 points and 8 rebounds for Aviation. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Salma Bahgat responded with 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alexandria maintains third position with 7-1 record behind leader Al Ahly. Shooting at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Heliopolis.
Rest of the games of round 8 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Olympic was defeated by Wadi Degla in Cairo 71-70. Heliopolis were beaten by Al Gezira at home 70-73. Somouha lost to Misr Insurance on the opponent's court 59-62.
