Rwanda outscored South Africa at the start of the championship. Rwanda recorded a 50-29 halftime lead. The hosts narrowed the gap in the second half but could not avoid the defeat. Morocco - Zambia 84-67
Morocco claimed the opening win at the tournament. They stormed past Zambia in the opener. Morocco registered a 44-29 halftime lead. Zambia narrowed the gap at 5-point mark heading into the fourth frame. But Morocco sank 27 points in the fourth stanza to race to the win. Rayane Solhi (G-2007) notched 21 points for Morocco. Frank Siame (2007) answered with 26 points for Zambia.
