Senegal - Algeria 76-59
Senegal outgunned Algeria recorded the first win in Madagascar. They rallied past Algeria in the opener. Senegal led by four points at halftime 40-36. They used a 23-11 run in the third term to clear off for good. Ousmane Ndiaye (210-SF-2004) delivered 21 points, while Mouhamed Faye (206-C-2005) added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Chakib Sedoud (2004) answered with 20 points for Algeria.

Group B
Rwanda - Guinea 44-64
Guinea opened win count in Group B as they toppled Rwanda. Guinea trailed by three points at halftime 26-23. But they went on a massive 41-18 run in the second half to seal the win. Hubert Kwizera (184-PG-2004) netted 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Rwanda. Ibrahima Sanoh (C-2004) replied with 15 points and 16 rebounds for Guinea.

Mali - Egypt 46-41
Mali topped Egypt to improve at 2-1 record in Group B. Mali held their opponents to just 11 points in the first half to take a 16-point halftime lead. Egypt went on a strong comeback rally in the second half but came up short at the end. Mahamadou Diarra (205-F/C-2005) produced 16 points, while Abdramane Kanoute (196-G-2004) had 14 points in the win. Mohamed Hendy (176-G-2004) hauled in 18 points for Egypt.
