Group ARwanda - Algeria 53-40Rwanda occupied the second position in Group A. They held off Algeria for 3-1 record. Cadeau Furaha (201-F-98) provided 13 points and 15 boards for the hosts. Rwanda posted a 20:16 halftime lead. Rwanda followed with a 33:24 run in the second half to seal the win. Gasana Sano (180-PG-99) had 10 points in the victory. Mohamed Sahbi (186-G-99) responded with 10 points for Algeria. Mali - Gabon 91-39 Mali outscored Gabon for the fourth straight win at the championship. Namakan Traore (192-F-98), Ibrahim Doumbia (202-F-98), Mahamadou Diawara (206-C-99) and Blaise Keita (210-C-99) scored 11 points each for the winners. Mali established a 42:21 halftime lead. They went on a 27:7 run in the third term to rally to the win. Kevin Nze Mba (192-G-98) responded with 11 points for Gabon. Group BEgypt - Angola 65-84Angola posted the fifth straight win in Group B. They rolled past Egypt to stay perfect. Bruno Fernandes (206-F-98) accounted for 26 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Egypt eked out a 14:13 lead after ten minutes. But Angola went on a 53:30 run in the next two periods to surge ahead. They protected the lead throughout the final stanza and rallied to the win. Silvio Sousa (203-C-98) had 23 points and 15 rebounds in the victory. Aly Shebl (201-PF-98) responded with 11 points for Egypt. DR Congo - Benin 120-65 DR Congo claimed the second victory in Group B. They stormed past Benin to secure the quarterfinal birth in Kigali. Jospin Kakule (98) posted 32 points to lead the winners. DR Congo piled up a massive 57:37 halftime lead. They unleashed 63 points in the second half and rallied to the win. Patrick Mwamba (99) and Jerry N'Sabwa (98) had 18 points each for the winners. Apollinaire Tchaby (169-G-98) responded with 20 points for Benin. Uganda - Tunisia 73-89 Tunisia rallied past Uganda for the third victory. Mohamed Rassil (198-F-98) stepped up with 23 points to pace the winners. Tunisia accounted for a 43:39 halftime lead. They went on a 27:16 run in the fourth frame to seal the win. Mohamed Selmi (205-C-98) provided 19 points in the victory. Mathew Ochieng (98) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds for Uganda. |
