Group AAlgeria - Mali 68-72Mali stayed on the winning path in Kigali. They overcame Algeria for the third straight win. Ousmane Traore (192-F-98) produced 15 points for the winners. Algeria eked out a 36:34 halftime lead. Mali however turned things around in the third term. They surged ahead for a 57:50 lead at the final intermission. Algeria held their opponents to just 15 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the defeat. Ibrahim Doumbia (202-F-98) finished with 11 points for the winners. Abderrahmane Hailouf (206-C-98) responded with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Algeria. Gabon - Ivory Coast 68-77 Ivory Coast beat Gabon for the first win in Kigali. Adama Camara (192-PG-98) posted 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ivory Coast stayed aggressive throughout the first half. They established a 41:26 halftime lead. Ivory Coast boosted the gap at 16-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. Isaac Cisse (99) had 14 points for the winners. Kevin Nze Mba (192-G-98) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds for Gabon. Group BEgypt - Tunisia 73-52Egypt knocked down Tunisia for the fourth straight win in Kigali. Mohamed Ramadan (194-SG-99) posted 15 points to lead the winners. Egypt and Tunisia were tied at 32 at halftime. However Egypt picked up the tempo in the second half. They finished the game on a 25:7 run to seal the win. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) and Tarek Raafat (187-G-99) posted 14 points each for the winners. Mohamed Selmi (205-C-98) responded with 19 points for Tunisia. Benin - Uganda 57-83 Uganda cruised past Benin for the opening win in Group B. Ivan Muhwezi (98) chipped in 16 points and issued 6 assists to lead the winners. Uganda built a 40:23 halftime lead. They went on a 23:11 run in the fourth term to secure the winning outcome. Elvis Ssentongo (99) and Mathew Ochieng (98) had 14 points each for the winners. Abdel Toukourou (183-PF-99) responded with 16 points for Benin. Angola - DR Congo 83-75 Silvio Sousa (203-C-98) posted 22 points to lead Angola past DR Congo in Group B. Angola jumped to a 29:14 lead at the first break. DR Congo pulled within 5 points at halftime 43:38. But Angola sank 22 points in the fourth quarter and held on for the victory. Bruno Fernandes (206-F-98) and Childe Dundao (167-G-98) had 15 points each for Angola. Patrick Mwamba (99) responded with 26 points for DR Congo. |
