Group AIvory Coast - Algeria 45-58Algeria claimed the second victory in a row in Kigali. They overcame Ivory Coast behind 18 points from Mostefa Braik (182-G-99). Algeria piled up a 28:18 halftime lead. They went on a 20:10 run in the third term to clear off for good. Louai Chebel (197-PF-98) and Mohamed Boussad (180-PG-98) had 9 points each for the winning side. Franck Djehi (201-C-98) responded with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Ivory Coast. Mali - Rwanda 61-40 Mali outgunned Rwanda for the second straight victory in Kigali. Ousmane Traore (192-F-98) posted 26 points to lead the charge. Rwanda established a 17:9 lead after the opening frame. Mali held the hosts to just 2 points in the second term to take a 24:19 halftime lead. Mali extended the lead at 9-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. Mali followed with a 25:13 run in the final stanza to ice the win. Blaise Keita (210-C-99) had 8 points for the winners. Jean Nshobozwabyose (182-G-98) responded with 10 points for Rwanda. Group BDR Congo - Egypt 68-95Egypt outgunned DR Congo to post the third consecutive victory in Group B. Six players scored in double digits for the winners. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) provided 18 points and 9 rebounds for Egypt. They rallied to a 44:32 halftime lead. Egypt sank 29 points in the third term to take a comfortable 23-point lead at the final intermission. Egypt dropped 51 points in the second half and marched to the win. Tarek Raafat (187-G-99) provided 13 points for the winners. Patrick Mwamba (99) responded with 29 points for DR Congo. Tunisia - Benin 86-33 Tunisia topped Benin for 2-1 record in Group B. Bilel Jaziri (192-PG-98) provided 12 points to lead the winning side. Tunisia established a 39:18 halftime lead. Tunisia followed with a strong 24:7 run in the third term to pile up a 38-point lead at the final intermission. They never looked back en route to the victory. Mohamed Rassil (198-F-98) totaled 11 points for the winners. Jean Ouikoun (176-G-99) responded with 9 points for Benin. Uganda - Angola 59-105 Angola rallied to the third consecutive victory in Kigali. They rallied past Uganda for 3-0 record in Group B. Five players scored in double digits for the winners. Bruno Fernandes (206-F-98) provided 21 points to lead the charge. Angola raced off to a 35:12 lead after ten minutes. They went on a 52:31 second half run and marched to the victory. Tarcio Domingos (194-PG-98) delivered 14 points for the winning side. Mathew Ochieng (98) responded with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Uganda. |
