Group A
Rwanda - Ivory Coast 74-65
Rwanda recorded the second straight victory in Kigali. The hosts held off Ivory Coast in Group A. Enoch Kisa (200-PF-99) posted 17 points to lead the winners. Ivory Coast claimed a 20:17 lead after ten minutes. But Rwanda picked up the tempo in the second quarter. They pulled ahead for a 41:31 halftime lead. Rwanda followed with a 23:19 run in the fourth stanza to ice the win. Jean Nshobozwabyose (182-G-98) had 14 points for the winning side. Bi Boulou Bah (185-F-99) replied with 16 points for Ivory Coast.

Gabon - Algeria 52-84
Algeria cruised past Gabon to open win count in Group A. Mohamed Sahbi (186-G-99) posted 17 points to lead the winners. Algeria got to a quick start. They raced off to a 50:25 halftime lead. Algeria limited their opponents to just 27 points in the second half and coasted to the win. Rayan Hamdi (204-C-99) provided 14 points for the winners. Kevin Nze Mba (192-G-98) answered with 16 points for Gabon.

Group B
Benin - Angola 29-127
Angola demolished Benin for the second consecutive victory in Group B. Bruno Fernandes (206-F-98) posted 33 points to lead the winners. It was a one-way traffic from start to finish. Angola built a 59:16 halftime lead. They poured in 68 points in the second half and sealed the winning outcome. Geraldo Santos (187-PG-98) provided 15 points in the victory. Abdel Toukourou (183-PF-99) responded with 10 points for Benin.

Tunisia - DR Congo 70-67
Tunisia opened win count at the championship. They held off DR Congo for 1-1 record in Group B. Mohamed Rassil (198-F-98) provided 21 points to lead the charge. DR Congo jumped at 19:12 lead ten minutes into the game. But Tunisia responded with a 38:24 run in the next two quarters to spur ahead. DR Congo worked hard in the fourth term to avoid an upset but came up short of win. Oussama Marnaoui (193-G-99) produced 12 points for Tunisia. Patrick Mwamba (99) responded with 16 points and 7 boards for DR Congo.

Egypt - Uganda 87-48
Tarek Raafat (187-G-99) stepped up with 19 points to lead Egypt past Uganda in the opener. Egypt stormed into the game. They registered a 45:18 halftime lead. They followed with a 22:9 run in the fourth quarter and eased to the win. Omar Farag and Mohamed Ramadan (194-SG-99) finished with 13 points each in the victory. Mathew Ochieng (98) tossed in 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Uganda.
