Mali celebrate title in Kigali

Egypt - Mali 48-84
Mali claimed the trophy in Kigali. They crushed Egypt to defend their title. The victory marked the sixth straight African Championship trophy for Mali. They dominated from start to finish in the Final. Mali posted a 47:21 halftime lead. They added 37 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Mariam Coulibaly (179-F-04) notched 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Mali. Maimouna Haidara (181-PF-04) had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the champions. Lojain Elfatairy (164-PG-03) replied with 19 points for Egypt.

3-4 Place

Angola - Mozambique 67-59
Angola clinched the third position at the championship. They beat Mozambique to step onto the podium. Angola recorded a 38:19 halftime lead. Mozambique narrowed the deficit at 9 points at the final break. They sank 23 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss. Sara Caetano (172-SF-03) nailed 31 points and grabbed 26 rebounds, while Teresa Mbemba (178-F-03) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Jessie Joaquim replied with 19 points and 14 rebounds for Mozambique.

5-6 Place

Rwanda - Uganda 51-66
Uganda finished the tournament on a winning note. They beat Rwanda to earn the fifth position. Uganda recorded a 34:27 halftime lead. They followed with a massive 21:9 run in the fourth term to seal the victory. Maria Najjuma (193-C-03) posted 19 points and 31 boards, while Mary Amaniyo (180-PF-03) had 18 points and 19 rebounds in the win. Lamla Umunezero (156-G-03) replied with 22 points and 15 rebounds for Rwanda.
