Angola - Mozambique 76-54
Angola opened win count in Rwanda. They defeated Mozambique in the first game. Sara Caetano (172-SF-03) came up with 30 points and 19 rebounds for Angola. Teresa Mbemba (178-F-03) added 24 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Paula Mabjaia (158-PG-03) and Leonor Do Alvar (167-G-04) tossed in 9 points each in the loss.

Mali - Uganda 108-32
Mali stormed past Uganda in Group B opener. Mali grabbed a 54:12 halftime lead. They unleashed 54 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Mariam Coulibaly (179-F-04) posted 26 points, while Maimouna Haidara (181-PF-04) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Mali. Maria Najjuma (193-C-03) replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds for Uganda.

Rwanda - Tanzania 36-42
Tanzania celebrated the first victory at the tournament. They edged hosting Rwanda in the opener. Paulina Mollel (175-F-04) accounted for 12 points in the win. Nelious Mbugeni (168-G-04) and Anna Mollel (175-G-04) added 10 points each for the winners. Lamla Umunezero (156-G-03) replied with 13 points for Rwanda.
