Regular Season Round 14: Azomco - REG 89-97

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali:REG (#3) and Azomco (#8). Azomco was defeated at home 89-97 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. REG forced 20 Azomco turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese forward Frank Betoudji (201-1998) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Cole Elliot (180-1994, college: Charleston) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists. Jarode Aworet (-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Malik Matsouka added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. REG have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Patriots. Azomco lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost.
