The game had a very big importance for second-rankedREG as it allowed them to take a leadership position. REG defeated 3rd placed Tigers in Kigali 69-55 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tigers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. REG forced 21 Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 54-43 including 16 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Cole Elliot (180-1994, college: Charleston) who scored 15 points and 4 assists. DR Congolese forward Frank Betoudji (201-1998) chipped in 6 points and 14 rebounds. International point guard Antino Jackson (182-1996, college: N.Mexico) produced 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and DR Congolese center Pitchou Kambuyi (208-1988) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. REG have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tigers at the other side keep the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Patriots.
