Regular Season Round 15: Orion - UGB 74-121

Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Kigali:UGB (#4) and Orion (#7). Orion was crushed at home by 47 points 74-121 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. UGB dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Orion 's 50. UGB forced 29 Orion turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Orion 's players. It was a great evening for center Eric Kayondo who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Burundian center Mohamed Doumbya (-1997) helped adding 25 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). UGB's coach Yves Murenzi felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Central African Abdoul Maisouka (-2001) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Pacifique Ishimwe scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UGB (10-6) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Patriots and Tigers. Orion lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost.
