D1 top team - REG (14-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Gahini (2-10) 96-53. REG held Gahini to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.1 percent accuracy of the winners. REG forced 38 Gahini turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Gahini's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when REG made 7 blocks. Mali Kadidia Maiga (185-1997) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Paul Akon accounted for 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four REG players scored in double figures. Aline Uwimana came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Jeanine Uwituze added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Gahini in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for REG. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-0 record. Gahini lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost.
