Regular Season Round 12: Azomco - Kepler 61-69

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Kigali:Kepler (#3) and Azomco (#8). Azomco was defeated at home 61-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Kepler forced 23 Azomco turnovers and outrebounded them 65-42 including a 29-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Beninese center Veronica Keita (190-2001) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 27 rebounds. Guard Josiane Tcheumeleu contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Kepler players scored in double figures. Kepler's coach Rene Sahabu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. South Sudanese Nivin Lokuku (-2003) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and guard Ange Umuhamya (164-2003) added 19 points and 5 steals in the effort for Azomco. Kepler (12-1) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Azomco lost fifth consecutive game. Azomco at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with nine games lost.
