Regular Season Round 8: Orion - APR 77-96

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kigali:APR (#1) and Orion (#6). Orion was smashed at home by 19 points 77-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. APR players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Mali forward Aliou Diarra (200-2001) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the former international Ntore Habimana (196-1997, college: Laurier) supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five APR players scored in double figures. Even 25 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists by American point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-1991, college: Jackson St.) did not help to save the game for Orion . Kennedy Garba added 22 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. APR (13-0) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 13 victories in a row. Orion at the other side dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost.
