Regular Season Round 7: Gahini - Azomco 52-70

There was a small surprise when sixth rankedAzomco (4-4) beat on the road their close opponent Gahini (2-4) 70-52 on Saturday. Azomco forced 22 Gahini turnovers and outrebounded them 56-36 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Fabiola Umunyuragaju who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Stephanie Kanyere accounted for 12 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Four Azomco players scored in double figures. Aline Uwimana came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Josiane Ishimwe added 14 points respectively for Gahini in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Azomco . Newly promoted Azomco maintains sixth place with 4-4 record. Loser Gahini dropped to the eighth position with four games lost.
