Regular Season Round 7: Al Ahly - Alexandria 75-61

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss ofAlexandria (6-1) in Cairo on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Al Ahly (7-0) 75-61 . It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Alexandria. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Ahly dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Alexandria 's 28. They outrebounded Alexandria 47-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Al Ahly looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Raneem Elgedawy (193-1997, college: WKU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Nadine Salawi helped adding 21 points and 10 rebounds. Four Al Ahly players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Hagar Amer (184-1993) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Hala El-Shaarawy (185-1993, college: St.Peter's) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Al Ahly have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record, which they share with NBEC. Alexandria at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost.
