Everything went according to plan in Cairo where top-rankedCanal (5-0) beat 15th ranked Al Shams (1-4) 72-63 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Mohamed Ezzat who scored 21 points. American guard Madarious Gibbs (185-1993, college: Texas Southern) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Ahmed Marei produced 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Canal have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al Ahly and Al Ittihad Al. Loser Al Shams dropped to the thirteenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Sporting and Aviation.
