Defending champion U.S. Monastir (ProA) added experienced 36-year-old Lebanese-South Sudanese ex-international center Ater Majok (210cm-106kg-1987, college: UConn) to their roster. It is his comeback to Monastir as he has played here before. Majok recently played at Sagesse in the Lebanese LBL league, where in three games he recorded 5.7ppg, 6.0rpg, and 1.3bpg this season. He also played 2 games in the West Asia Super League, averaging 3.5ppg, 3.0rpg, and 1.0spg. Majok briefly played for Ahly Benghazi (D1) in the Libyan league.
In 2011, a year after graduating, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) in the second round (58th overall). He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2010, and it is his 14th season in pro basketball.
He also repped Lebanon at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers last year. However, his stats at that event were not impressive as he did not score any points.
He is a highly experienced player, having played professionally on six continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Africa, and North America) in sixteen different countries. His pro career has taken him to Australia (New Zealand Breakers), Bahrain (Al-Muharraq), Belarus, China (Shaanxi, Beijing, and Hainan Haixiang), Germany (BG Goettingen), Korea, Lebanon (Al Riyadi, Beirut Club, Homentmen, and Champville), Poland (Trefl), Qatar (Al Arabi), Slovakia, Taiwan (Taiwan Beer), Turkey, Venezuela (Piratas), Angola (Atletico Petroleos de Luanda), Tunisia (US Monastir and Ezzahra), and the NBA G League (South Bay Lakers).
Majok's team won Dubai International Tournament in 2023. He was voted Afrobasket.com All-Libyan League Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. He is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at US Monastir.
