US Monastir sign Souleyman Diabate

Solo Diabate

U.S. Monastir (ProA) inked experienced 34-year old Ivorian 183cm point guard Souleyman Diabate, agency: Interperformances. Diabate is the second import player in the roster as USA Ty Lawson signed here earlier.
He played last summer at Somouha in Egyptian Superleague. He helped them to win the league title and the Supercup. He also played for Al Ettehad (Superleague). Diabate contributed to his team making it to the Egyptian Cup Semifinals.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Diabate represented Ivory Coast at the World Cup in China three years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 9.0ppg, 1.8rpg, 3.8apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 33.3%, 3PT: 40.0%.
He is a very experienced player. Diabate has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to five different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and Africa). He has played previously professionally in France (Gravelines Dunkerque, Chalons Reims, Chorale de Roanne, Sluc Nancy and Provence Basket), Slovakia (Levice), North Macedonia (MZT Skopje) and China (Anhui Putianxingfa).
Among many awards he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Slovakian League Honorable Mention back in 2018.
Diabate's game is described as: A true 'Mr Consistency' when he's on the court. Diabate's a terrific ball handler, passes the ball very well and can score both inside and from the perimeter. Also, he defends hard and he set up his teammates.
