L'Etoile du Sahel crowned champions ! In a hard-fought final, Sahel edged the 2008 champions Stade Nabeulien 77-66 to claim the Tunisian Championship. It's the third time Etoile du Sahel were crowned champions after taking the championships in 1981 and 2007. The season is not over for Etoile du Sahel as they are going after double soon, as they qualified for the cup-final as well. Stade Nabeulien is the National Cup winner! - Jun 18, 2009 Stade Nabeulien is the new Tunisian National Cup winner! SN was too strong for JSK in the Big Final 72-62 grabbing this prestigious trophy. It was very exciting game decided during the last ten minutes. Opening quarter belonged to SN, who made 15-10 lead. JSK was not able to come any closer until the half time as SN still had plus 5, 35-30. However, JSK slightly improved after the breather closing the gap to 49-47. SN intensified defense after that and at the same time was pretty good at the offensive end finishing the last frame with 23-15. In the Semifinals Stade Nabeulien was better than CA 69-65. JSK eliminated ESS 87-83. In the Quarterfinals JSK had an easy job against CS Ksar Hellal scoring 116 points (116-62). ESS had to give much bigger effort against C Cheminots. The reigning Tunisian champion proved its highest ambition in National Cup celebrating 70-59 on the road. Third participant of the Semis CA was better than ESR 72-61. The toughest job in the QFinals had SN. Its rival USM showed pretty good performance managing to resists until the end. However, SN's players were concentrated when it was the most important winning by one point, 65-64. All of the Semifinals participants cruised past their rival in the Eightfinals in style. Each of the teams won with at least plus 18 at the end. ESS destroyed Kasserine 102 -70. JSK was better than JSM 103-73, while SN beat ES 89-60. CA outplayed AS 73-55. |
