NATIONAL basketball team member Sudi Ulanga (181-PG-88) is ready to give his service to his new team, UCU Canons at the Uganda National Basketball (NBL). Speaking to the 'Daily News' from Uganda yesterday, Ulanga confirmed that the league is due to kick off this Friday. Ulanga's desire to play for UCU Canons was put on hold after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) cancelled the event since last year as due as one of the preventive measures to curb Covid-19 spread. Ulanga said that he is very happy and looking forward to being back on the courts after a year long wait. "We have been in intensive training ready for the kick off and I can't wait to enter into action," said Ulanga. He stressed that UCU Canons, who are the 2019 NBL finalists are scheduled to open their campaign against Warriors. "It is going to be a tough start as Warriors are among the strong teams, but we are ready for any challenge against any team," he said. According to him, games will be played at open air courts at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Kampala international University (KIU) and Makerere University. Ulanga landed a two years contract with UCU Canons outfit last year and the shooting guard said he is looking for a new challenge after leaving KIU Titans. Ulanga helped the Titans to 2017 NBL finals, where they lost to City Oilers. For the past few years, Ulanga worked as the coach for KIU Rangers, a sister team to the Titans. Before joining Titan he also played for Falcons basketball team also of Uganda.
