Talita Memani had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Western Cape Mountaineers and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The had a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds, while her team beat Marlins (#4, 1-3) 62-53. Mountaineers is placed at 2nd position in South African WBNL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Mountaineers will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Memani has many years of experience at Mountaineers, through which she has constantly improved. Memani has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.5ppg), rebounds (6th best: 13.5rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg,4.5spg and 61.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Ayajabula Mthethwa of Kwa-Zulu Marlins. Mthethwa impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Marlins lost that game 53-62 to slightly higher-ranked Mountaineers (#2, 3-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. Marlins still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. 3 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Marlins managed to get this year. Mthethwa is one of the most experienced players at Marlins and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Marlins' star - former international forward Jana Cupedo (F/C). Cupedo scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Kwa-Zulu Marlins, helping her team with a 61-49 win against Pride (#5, 0-4). Marlins can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 1-3 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Cupedo has a very solid season. In 4 games in South Africa she scored 11.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Enathi Petse) of Pride - 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
